This information is based on regulations and operations of December 2020 and remain fluid. These policies are based on if data and regulations remained in place from now until summer 2021.
Kulaqua continues to take precautionary measures that puts the health of our guests and staff as a priority, while providing a high-quality experience. Kulaqua resides in Alachua County and continues to follow the CDC and local health department guidelines and regulations.

Arrivals & Departures –
We will be conducting a prescreening upon arrival with a questionaire and temperature check of each camper. In addition, please self monitor a few days prior and if you or your camper should develop symptoms before your camp, please stay home and cancel your reservation.
Fever policy now does not allow campers with a temperature of 100.0 or higher to stay at camp. Should your camper express signs of sickness or hold a fever, we will ask you to pickup your child immediately from the camp.
Camp Kulaqua reserves the right not to admit individuals who show signs of illness, or have temperature of 100.0F or higher.
We have the privelage to provide all of our activities to you. Some require us to be in close spaces with one another and during those times we will require you to wear a mask. These areas include: Tower of Faith, Go-Carts (only during safety briefing, entering and exiting), and Horseback Riding (mounting and dismounting only).
You will see our staff with masks on while interacting with you while providing the best care possible.
Cabin capacities are currently reduced and once screenings are complete we will treat each cabin as its own household, or “cohort” as we call it. Cub Camp will not have a reduction in capacity because it has a smaller ratio of 1 counselor : 6 campers. Cabins with bunk beds will sleep campers head to toe.
Daily Temperature Checks –
Each day our campers will be directed to our temperature screening tent with no-touch thermometers . Based on guidance from health authorities, anyone displaying a temperature of 100.0 F or above will be directed to an additional location for rescreening and assistance.
Buffet lines have been removed and Cafeteria-serving lines have been implemented during this time. For more details, please see our Covid-19 Operating Procedures, page 4.
Masks & When to wear them –
Per our county, mask mandates are in place and require the following:
- Absent a legal exception, all patrons must wear facial coverings, including while entering, exiting, or otherwise moving around this establishment. Children under six are excluded from this.
- Staff must wear facial coverings during all in-person interactions with the public.
- Masks must remain on in the Cafeteria and building areas while moving about, until seated with your party.
- Please keep your mask on when within 6 feet of others, including inside buildings
- When interacting with other individuals not in your family circle, or with staff (see activities section above)

In preparation for camp, we are planning a number of modifications to reduce the risk of exposure, adjusting to the local and state regulations as they continue to change:
– Spreading out cabins in dining areas, staggered meal times, and utilizing outdoor picnic tables.
– Small groups of campers assigned together, and those outside of cabins are required to social distancing and wearing face coverings when closer than six feet.
– Increased daily sanitation by our staff.
– Sanitation and wipe stations throughout camp.
– Temperature checks daily of guests and staff.
– Staff will be wearing masks when serving and preparing food and when in close proximity to campers.
